The Photographer

Fergus Wilkie is a photographer with a deep connection to St Andrews, having roots in Fife as far back as records go. His father came to university from a nearby village, and this was the start of ties with St Andrews that brought Fergus to the town as a child.

Like many who have fallen in love with St Andrews, Fergus was drawn back to become a resident in 2015.

Fergus’s experience spans 35 years in journalism and photography. He was a sub-editor, then picture editor and photographer at the Financial Times in London, and after going freelance his work appeared in all the major UK newspapers. He moved on to business portraits in the City of London, diversifying into magazines and film stills, while continuing his personal interest in travel photography.

From 2004, Fergus worked on regular assignments in the Caribbean, handling portraits, landscapes and aerial photography with equal expertise.

All of these skills are brought to bear in this project, Fergus’s first coffee-table book.
